Before you start
- A folder structure agreed before anything is uploaded. Reorganising a drive people already link to breaks the links.
- A decision on downloading, which is governed separately from viewing.

Share with people, teams and companies
Three widths of sharing. Share with a team rather than with its members, so the access follows the team when somebody joins or leaves it.
Change and revoke other people’s access
Revoking is its own right, and the one that gets neglected. Review shares when somebody changes role, not only when they leave.
Comment, reply and mention
Comments live on the file and folder, so the discussion about a document is attached to it rather than in an email thread beside it.
Restore from the recycle bin
Deleted items go to a bin they can be restored from. This is the answer to most "it has gone" reports, and it is worth telling people it exists.
Send files and comments into Chat
Sending from Drive into Chat keeps one copy of the file with its permissions intact, rather than an attachment that has escaped them.
Govern downloading separately
Viewing a file and taking a copy of it away are different acts with different risks, and here they are different permissions.
