Contacts

Contacts is the shared address book: the people behind the companies you deal with, held once for the whole organisation rather than in each person’s own list.

Try it in the democontacts · 3 tasks

Before you start

  • Decide which organisations a contact may be shared with, if you run more than one company.

What Contacts does

The people behind the companies you deal with.

01

Share contacts across the organisation

A contact is shared with your organisation, not owned by whoever typed it in. That is what stops the same customer existing five times with four phone numbers.

02

Add and change contacts where you are allowed

Adding and editing are permissioned. In practice most people should be able to add and few should be able to edit, because a corrected record is usually somebody else’s corrupted one.

03

Move a contact between organisations

People change employer. Moving the contact keeps the history attached to the person rather than stranding it against a company they left.

What it claims to do

The capability list this guide is written against, unabridged. Nothing above adds to it.

Where it connects

The modules Contacts hands work to, or takes it from. Most problems that look like one module are a handover between two.
