Human ResourcesPayroll
Salaries calculated from rules, not typed in.
Payroll calculates salaries from rules rather than from typing. A run is created, checked and approved; releasing the payments is a separate, deliberate act; and bank details are visible only to the people who need them.

What it does
Payroll, in the product’s own words
- Payroll runs created, edited and approved
- Rules and settings held apart from the runs
- Salaries and payroll reports, each its own permission
- Bank details visible only to those who need them
- Payments released as a deliberate, separate act
- Export for the bank or the accountant
Before you start
What has to be in place
- Approved timesheets and settled leave for the period — payroll reads what HR finished, not what it is still deciding.
- The rules and settings, which are held apart from the runs on purpose.
- Bank details entered, under the permission that guards them.
In the user guide
5 tasks, explained
- 01Create, edit and approve a run
- 02Keep rules apart from runs
- 03Read salaries and payroll reports
- 04Release the payments
- 05Export for the bank or the accountant
Worth knowing
- Check before paying. The separation between approve and release exists so that somebody looks once more; using them as one step throws away the control.
